Standard Meeting Agenda

Life Group – Standard Meeting Agenda

As we all know, there is no such thing as a typical meeting in any group format.  Each group and every session takes on its own flavor based on not only traditional group dynamics, but also on special circumstances and events that may be transpiring in someone’s life.
However, there is a basic agenda/template we should all try and follow in order to breed consistency.  The template will obviously transform over time into endless iterations, but this is meant to serve as our Life Group blueprint.  Following this outline will not only ensure we start on a positive note, but will also allow members to easily transition during the initial launch without fears of what to expect.

The typical Life Group session should last no more than 90 minutes as follows:

10 – 15 minutes
Refreshments:  The meeting should begin with light refreshments and beverages allowing members to connect and catch up before beginning the session.

15 – 30 minutes
Sharing:  During this time members share prayers requests and provide the group with an update on their lives.

30 – 45 minutes
Study & Discussion:    The next part of the meeting is dedicated to the study and discussion of the previous Sunday’s sermon.  During this time everyone will discuss/review their answers to the study questions.

15 – 30 minutes
Prayer:    The last piece of the meeting should be to focus on a time of prayer for expressed needs during the meeting, or those requested at this time.  Leaders can either keep the group together at this time or split off by couples, gender, etc.

Again, each group has the freedom to digress from the above schedule as needed or as special circumstances arise.   As mentioned above, as groups have met for some time the group will have a more defined and set schedule that will take on a flavor of its own.  However, the above are the core components that should be included in every session.    The goal of this agenda template is simply to give each group a roadmap, but obviously be open to the Holy Spirit’s direction to lead the group accordingly.
