Worship

Worship in the Vineyard

We place a high value on spending time worshipping God through song.  Our worship time is not meant to be a time of performance or entertainment.  It is a time for participation - not observation.  Our band's desire is to lead the congregation in honoring the Lord as King and experiencing His presence.

First and foremost, we worship to honor the Lord as King because He is worthy.  We turn our attention away from the pressures and stresses of our daily lives and onto God.  We sing about Him and to Him.  The word 'worship' translates most commonly as 'to bow' (greek "proskynein").  We approach Him in both humility and reverence placing Him first in our lives.  We express thanksgiving and adoration to God for who He is and all that He has done.

Secondly, we believe that as we worship, we experience God's presence.  Worship isn't a place to hide from God.  It is a place to be found by God.  As we approach Him with honesty and humility, He meets us by His Spirit and ministers to us personally.  We allow him to see us as we really are, with all our weaknesses, failings, and needs.  It is often in times of worship that God counsels us in wisdom, leads us to repentance, heals us, and transforms us.

Our Style and Format

We worship for about thirty minutes on Sunday mornings.  Our music style is contemporary rock as we value cultural relevance.  Our worship time is not a warm up or a time to get people in a good mood for the sermon.  It is an end in itself and a vital part of our service.  As we sing, we celebrate the victory that Jesus has won for us.  We also as express how we may feel on a daily basis.  Approaching God with humility and authenticity are key to how we worship in the Vineyard.  We sing songs that express weakness and brokeness as well as celebration and thanksgiving.

Getting Involved

Our Sunday morning worship band members are primarily made up of volunteers that also serve in other ministries in the church.  We seldom hold formal auditions.  If you are a musician or a worship leader, get involved by joining a Life Group or serving in a ministry area.  As you acclimate to our community and participate in our mission, opportunities for you will surely open up.

If you are an experienced sound technician or audio/video technician and would like to get involved, contact tammytalton@kwvineyard.com.
